League Rules
Southwest Basketball League is an affordable league compared to other leagues, in order to keep the league at reasonable prices parent participation will greatly be needed. The league requires that each team have at least one parent coach and during games have home team supply a scorekeeper. Team managers are also welcome, if interested in coaching, scorekeeping or team manager please specify on registration. Players may not play on different teams in the same division & players cannot be added to roster after the 4th game of regular season. Players must play a minimum of 3 games to be eligible for playoffs!
Below are rules for games and divisions
1st & 2nd Grade Division
8 minute quarters with substitutions every 4 minutes.
Every child must play at least one half.
No double teams and every player must guard their own man.
Games are played on regulation size basket.
No Playoffs
Games are played with 27.5 Basketball
Bronze Division (3rd & 4th Grade)
8 minute quarters with substitutions every 5 minutes. Every child must play at least one half
There will be one three miute overtime
No double teams, players may play help defense in the paint.
Each player must guard their own man (no zone defenses)
Games are played with 27.5 Basketball
Silver Division (5th-8th)
20 minute running clock each half. Clock will stop only on time outs and the last 2 minutes of game.
Each child must play at least 10 minutes
Man to Man defense or Zone defense at amytime. Full court press allowed in 2nd half.(7/8 grade entire game), however, coaches can agree to play full court press the entire game.
Games are played with 28.5 Basketball (7th - High School 29.5)

High School Rules
Altercations/Fighting
Fighting of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in immediate suspension! Players involved in a fight will be ejected from game and will be suspended for the following game. A fight is considered a player throwing punches or throwing a person intentionally to the ground. Players pushing or arguing is not considered a fight, however, players may still be ejected from game if referee detemines players should leave. If the referee or director determines that a player was acting in self defense and did not initiate fight, that player will not be suspended. If same player is involved in a another fight in the same season he/she will be suspended for three games.Third offense = Termination. The rule on fighting will be strictly enforced.
